Things
weren't that different by then. People would still wake up every morning at
pretty much the same hour and do pretty much the same sort of things during the
first few hours until dusk. Only then the normal activity seemed to be less...
normal.
I remember
seeing bank clerks running behind their bosses in dirty clubs around the river
bank until late night, and those being chased themselves by bar tenders looking
to get the beers paid as soon as possible.. activity was so intense that the air
could easily be cut with a knife by the time the cleaners got to the pubs in
the early morning once everyone else had gone to sleep.. or at least to
get a shower...
